Summer Guide To Madrid

From the classic landmarks to the lesser-known gems, I have rounded up some of the most irresistible activities you can do in the Spanish capital during the summer!

Stay

DEAR HOTEL

Decorated in palette of pale greys, whites and creams, this groovy boutique hotel is incredibly in vogue these days. I absolutely love soaking up the views from the rooftop plunge pool after a long day exploring the city. The high-rise four-star hotel is located at the end of the Gran Vía, on the corner of Plaza de España.

EAT

GARAGE GRILL

A Must-Try Milkshake!

Garage Grill is known for its quality grilled food, what we love most are their instagram-worthy milkshakes. Served in mason jars, the mouth-watering creamy concoctions are certainly a feast for the eyes as well as the tummy. Be brave and tantalise your taste buds with their famous Willy Wonka!

LA PECERA

A Sweet Fish-Shaped Treat

Madrid can be overwhelmingly hot during the summer months. In order to make the heat wave just a little more bearable, try this unique Japanese-influenced ice cream!

ROCAMBOLESC

An Instagram-worthy ice cream

For the perfect mid-day treat, head to the cutest ice cream shop in Madrid. The wildly popular fairy ice-creams absolutely worth the calories. I´m still daydreaming about the last ones we had!

ULTRAMARINOS QUINTIN

A perfect Spot for a Drink

If you are looking for a cool place after a shopping spree, head to the popular Ultramarinos Quintin in the oh-so-trendy neighborhood of Salamanca.

Located inside an old grocery store at the corner of Lagasca, the space will surprise you with its dimmed lighting, velvet chairs, naked brick walls and warm ambiance. The owners of Quintin have two other extremely successful bars named Ten con Ten and El Paraguas.

ZAPEROCO

A Tropical Restaurant

The lust, green restaurant on Calle Velázquez, 102, will certainly transport you to an exotic paradise with its exuberant tropical prints, craft cocktails and jungle decor.

SAN GINÉS

 A Classic Churrería

No matter how much the mercury rises during the summer, freshly baked churros with a decadent chocolate is always a great idea!! Founded in 1894, this old style café is certainly an institution in the Spanish capital. Expect long lines queuing up for the airy, golden brown strips of churros.

SHOP

 BROWNIE

 A Trendy Boutique

Tucked away in a beautiful courtyard, the gorgeous boho-chic fashion store is so discreet that you might not even notice it when you pass by. The setting is so inviting that makes the shopping experience even more magical.

VISIT

 AZOTEA CÍRCULO DE BELLAS ARTES

A Spot for Killer Views

Sipping cocktails with a sky-high view in the sunshine during the sticky summer is always a good idea. Perched atop the art building Círculo de Bellas Artesthe contemporary rooftop bar has become another summer must in Madrid.

 BUEN RETIRO PARK

 A Bucolic Scape

The Retiro Park could possibly be the equivalent of Central Park in New York. With a beautiful pond with rowboats, tree-shaded paths, outdoor cafés and a 19th century glass building, the lung of the city  is the best place to get away from the hectic pace of Madrid.

THE ROYAL BOTANICAL GARDEN

A Hidden Garden

Located at Murillo Square, in front of the Prado Museum, the 8-hectare Botanical Garden is home to three different greenhouses with three different climates and over 30,000 species of plants!

PLAZA MAYOR

An Iconic Place

There´s always something going on in Madrid´s most beloved square. Underneath the arcades, you will find numerous traditional stores as well as cozy cafés and bars.

WANDER

GRAN VÍA

Connecting Calle de Alcalá and Plaza de España, Gran Via is the main avenue through the centre of Madrid. Because the blistering heat abates during the summer months, the perfect time for strolling along the Gran Vía is definitely at sunset.
